Farnborough is famous for the International Air Show; and the aerospace industry, which originated in the town, has brought great prosperity over the years.

Today, high tech industries provide thousands of jobs, helping make Farnborough a vibrant, forward-looking place. Once a town people commuted from, Farnborough’s recent regeneration means that it becoming a place people travel to for work.

In complete contrast, Farnborough is surrounded by unspoilt heathland such as Hawley Common, an important nature conservation area. It is part of the wider Blackwater Valley area, whose attractions include country parks, watersports, fishing, cycling and walking on the Blackwater Path.

The Basingstoke Canal Centre, located just outside Farnborough at Mytchett, is the place to take a boat trip from, or to simply stroll along the towpath enjoying a little rural tranquility.
